Welcome to Ford Fiesta review!

I’m sure everybody knows and loves the Ford Fiesta, it was in fact my very first car and the first car choice for millions of people across the world.  You can see the picture of my Fiesta below!

ford fiesta reviewWhilst they are not super fast sports cars, they are a great choice for anyone looking for a budget motor.  They are reliable (mostly), economical to run, easy & cheap to fix, plus you won’t have to shell out a small fortune to get one.  If you are here looking for a Ford Fiesta review then read on!

This car is classed as a middle class ‘Supermini’ and is made by the Ford Motor company over in Europe, but it’s not only sold there, but also in Southern Africa, Brazil, Mexico, China & India, plus Australia and Japan.  It also made a brief appearance in North America as well.  It’s safe to say that this is one of Ford’s most successful cars and over 10 million have been sold!

Ford saw a gap in the European market back in the 70’s when people were looking for smaller more economical vehicles.  Companies such as Fiat and Renault were releasing new models classed as ‘superminis’ and they were selling like hot cakes.  Add to that the effects of the energy crisis in 1973, the emerging market for smaller cars could not be ignored by any car manufacturer who wanted a large share of the market.

The Fiesta actually started off as a project called the ‘Bobcat’ and it was from there that it evolved into what we know today as the ever popular Ford Fiesta.  The first generation was launched in 1976 and looks like the one in my picture above, it was actually quite a turning point for the Ford Motor company as it was their first really successful front wheel drive car.  It was also their latest development since the release of the Granada 5 years previous.  You could also buy the Fiesta in America from 1978 and it was a reasonably big hit there.

This car was so popular in fact that a million of them had been made by 9th January 1979!

If you look at the various Ford Fiesta review sites online you will see that in total there have been 7 generations of the Ford Fiesta and they are still being made, with new models being planned.  They also come with a variety of engine sizes and trims, all of these cars are front wheel driven and come with a 4 or 5 speed gear box.  There’s also a whole range of extras to choose from and just because this is a cheaper range of vehicle doesn’t mean that you have to skimp on the luxury items!

For those of you who like sportier cars then you will be pleased with the hot hatch range of Fiesta’s such as the Sport, XR2, XR2i, Si, RS1800, RS Turbo plus the ST.  Having driven some of these models I can tell you that you won’t be disappointed with the performance!  They handle well and being light cars with efficient engines, they go like stink!  You might remember the modified Fiestas back in the 1979 Monte Carlo rally, they didn’t do too badly at all.

Overall we think that the Ford Fiesta is a great car for anyone no matter what their needs, whether you are buying new or used you are sure to find a bargain and are sure you will be very happy with your purchase.  You can find many Ford Fiesta review websites online and most of them are giving an overall thumbs up for the model.  There are many happy Fiesta owners worldwide and for good reason!  They also make great first cars for those who have just passed their test, and we would definitely recommend this as a first car.

We hope that you find the right one for you and have enjoyed this Ford Fiesta review!
